Bashir Dawood & Mariyam Dawood: Giving At-Risk Youth A Taste Of Life In The Fast Lane
While access to food, education and healthcare are top priorities when establishing a better future, there is more to life than meeting basic survival needs. Disadvantaged youth often do not get the opportunity to see grand events like Formula 1 Racing in person – for them, affairs such as these are usually restricted to television screens.
Philanthropists Bashir Dawood & wife Mariyam Dawood recently teamed up with the YMCA Project Bridge Youth Centre in Singapore. Project Bridge reaches out to young people marginalised from schools to help reintegrate them into society through meaningful education programs.
Bashir Dawood & Mariyam Dawood graciously organised for a group of 15 youths from the program to experience the thrill of watching F1 racing in person.
The lucky group was also treated to the perks of the Singapore Club Suite afterwards. A banquet of delicious food was provided, along with an enchanting magic show.
Bashir Dawood & Mariyam Dawood are of the opinion that Formula 1 racing is a potent symbol of the power of knowledge, wielded for the greater good. To Bashir in particular, F1 brings together some of the sharpest, most innovative minds from an assortment of industries to work toward a shared goal.
More Than Charity
Rather than facilitating a day like this to simply offer an experience, Bashir Dawood & Mariyam Dawood hope the day inspired them to work toward achieving great things later on.
Progression towards a smarter, safer world lies in the hands of youth. These youths need to be cherished, and given ample opportunities to plant the seed of aspiration.
It is the Dawood family’s mission to fuel this progression. To quote Bashir himself, they seek to inspire someone to become the next F1 World Champion, John Cooper, or Elon Musk!
“Together, we are able to break records, surpass boundaries and redefine limits.” – Bashir Dawood
